UK government adds powers to regulate AI agent loss-of-control incidents to its cyber security bill
A UK government factsheet describes proposed powers, under the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill, to set agent safeguards, affected-party notification, evidence preservation and government-led reviews for agentic loss-of-control incidents. The Register reports the clause was added at the bill's third reading in the House of Lords. It says the clause could cover energy suppliers, managed service providers and cloud providers deploying agents, but not foundation model developers automatically. The government says it will consult before using the powers, and Parliament must approve any rules.
