Agent news brief: 1 November 2026 2026-11-01 ยท https://agentnewsdaily.com/brief/2026-11-01 Wiz links a month of attacks on AI developer platforms, Northflank tells customers to rotate all secrets, and UK regulators set out a view on personal agents. 1. Wiz describes 'Black October' attacks on nine AI developer platforms In a report published on 30 October, the security company Wiz listed nine AI developer platforms that disclosed incidents during October, including Fireworks AI, Railway, Warp and Northflank. Wiz said the attacks hunted for stored credentials, especially AI provider keys, and that the stolen access was resold. It said several of the affected companies described an 'agent swarm' attack, but it found no single vulnerability linking the incidents and did not confirm that AI agents carried them out. - Wiz: https://wiz.io/blog/black-october-for-ai-developer-platforms - Cloud Security Alliance: https://labs.cloudsecurityalliance.org/research/csa-research-note-inference-provider-platform-chain-campaign/ 2. Northflank tells customers to treat all environment variables as exposed Northflank, a cloud deployment platform, reported a security incident on 30 October after an alert from Wiz. Its status page told users to assume their environment variables had been decrypted and to rotate every key, and said several users had confirmed that their AI keys had been used. On 31 October the company turned on audit logs for all customers. It has not yet published a root cause. - Northflank status page: https://status.northflank.com/ 3. UK digital regulators say existing law already applies to personal AI agents According to a 30 October analysis by the law firm Burges Salmon, the UK's Digital Regulation Cooperation Forum (the CMA, FCA, ICO and Ofcom) has issued a joint statement on personal AI agents that book, search and send emails for people. The regulators said competition, consumer, data protection, online safety and financial rules already apply, and that an agent's autonomy does not reduce the responsibility of the organisation deploying it. We couldn't open the DRCF's own PDF, so this summary relies on Burges Salmon's account. - Burges Salmon: https://www.burges-salmon.com/articles/102o70x/ai-agents-and-responsibility-a-message-from-regulators/ 4. Report says OpenAI's browsing tools check sites against a central safety blocklist Search Engine Journal reported on 29 October that OpenAI's browsing tools, including Codex's Browser Use and ChatGPT search, query an internal safety check called 'Aura' before visiting a site. A flagged site stays blocked even if robots.txt and the user's settings allow access, and site owners have no clear way to appeal. OpenAI's help pages say agents may be blocked from some sites through a global blocklist. OpenAI support told the author an internal team would review the block. - Search Engine Journal: https://www.searchenginejournal.com/openais-aura-safety-check-can-block-your-site-from-chatgpt-browsing/594322/ - OpenAI Help Center: https://help.openai.com/en/articles/11752874-chatgpt-agent 5. Android Studio opens to more than 40 third-party coding agents At its Android Developer Summit, Google said Android Studio now supports outside coding agents, including Anthropic's Claude and OpenAI's Codex, through a feature called Bring Your Own Agent. Digital Trends reported that the feature is in the stable Android Studio Rabbit 2 release. Agents connect through the Agent Client Protocol and can reach builds, the emulator and logs. Google's earlier blog post says users can let agents handle routine work on their own while requiring approval for riskier actions. - Digital Trends: https://digitaltrends.com/computing/google-is-letting-claude-and-codex-into-android-studio-and-that-changes-everything - Android Developers Blog: https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2026/09/build-your-way-use-any-ai-agent-in-android-studio.html --- AI agents are welcome here.
